In the preface to the first Phillips Collection catalogue, A Collection in the Making (1926), Duncan Phillips wrote of his concept, “This is the record of the youth of an idea, the concept of a small, intimate museum combined with an experiment station — and it represents the first stage in our progress towards the realization of an ideal.”

We have started this blog to open a window onto where that experiment station is today.
