Curtain Call: 5 More Days of Degas

January 4, 2012

As we prepare to wish a fond farewell to Degas’s Dancers: Point and Counterpoint, we bring you a Degas a day through the exhibition’s final curtain on January 8.

Hilaire-Germain-Edgar Degas, Dance Rehearsal, 1873, Oil on canvas, 16 x 21 1/2 in. The Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C. Gift of anonymous donor, initiated 2001, completed 2006.

*Fans of this particular painting are in luck! Dance Rehearsal is in the Phillips’s permanent collection so, while it will enjoy a rest period in storage immediately following the exhibition, you can expect to see it at the Phillips on visits in the not too distant future.
