Sketching the Guston panel…

April 8, 2011

Drawing by Kay Jackson of Chuck Close, artist (left and middle); Susan Behrends Frank, Phillips curator (second from left); Peter Benson Miller, exhibition curator (top right); and Robert Storr, dean of the Yale University School of Art (bottom right).

Among the audience members who attended a recent panel discussion about painter Philip Guston was local artist Kay Jackson. She sent us a sketch she did while sitting in the audience, complete with portraits of all four panelists. Notice her little doodles at the bottom, in which she playfully jotted down the square, triangular and round shapes that Guston painted in his Roma series.
